NEWS JUNKIES -- CHECK OUT OUR HOMEPAGE

Had to create a new open thread, as the old one is almost up to 25,000 comments.

Big game tonight, good luck to both teams.

Kaniac first started attending IU football games at the age of 6, rolling around the knothole in the North End Zone of Memorial stadium with fellow Bloomington first grade gang members.

Volunteering to help others or just the community you live in is a noble and worthy thing to do. I don’t like the way the left has tried to make it about them and only their causes. Help someone you are close to so you know it goes to a good cause. Don’t rely on large national organizations to do the right thing. My two cents on the issue as the “bird” family participates in the community and anonymously for individuals when we can.

Finally…*finally*….FINALLY…silver prices are going bonkers. This, after, like at least a dozen years of TV ads from Lear Capital for investing in silver and gold.

Here is a signature Sir Rants-a-Lot recommendation: When silver hits $100 an ounce (which could happen this week!), Lear Capital should open a Quality Investment Learing Center…with real investment advisors.

Lear Capital could show the Somali foreign nationals in Minneapolis, aka Sno-gadishu, what a REAL Learing Center is like.

Supreme Court to rear oral arguments in gun rights case Tuesday. The case challenges a Hawaii law banning gun owners from carrying guns in or on public accessible private property unless approved by the property owner. This means hotels, stores, etc.

If Chrysler wants to revive sales…

Get rid of pure EVs
Bring back the Viper V-10
Create some new exciting small and sporty bodies like you were always known for. Chevy and Ford go bland, but Mopar had the curves.

Excellent! I think Chrysler is recognizing the futility of pursuing pure EVs without losing bazillions. Poor Ford and other automakers who tried going down this “zero emissions” path.

The V-10 was a great motor – no direct injection and no turbocharging or supercharging, just naturally aspirated big-cube goodness. In spite of the 3.0 liter “Hurricane” twin turbo inline 6 engines which make 420 and 550 horsepower, I’d be amazed if they make it beyond 125,000 miles without major turbo or other engine failure. The inline 6 engine design is terrific. Why not make a naturally aspirated version of it that puts out 250 horsepower or so, and that can offer 250,000 to 300,000 mile reliability?

I wish the Dodge boys would have emphasized utility, reliability and durability (think of all of the GM cars that had the incredible 3800 V6 in them – I own one, and it’s better than any turbo 4 made today) over chasing gee-whiz stratospheric horsepower and 0 to 60 stats. It may be too late to save the iconic brand, and I hope I’m wrong.
