Who ever the sheriff was he showed great restraint, I am impressed. That was why I did not go into police work, putting up with foul people is enough to cause you to go over the edge. Down here in the south to get a concealed weapons permit I had to take an oath to assist any officer in need when asked, Or step in and defend the officer if he could not defend himself or ask for help. Most police officers down here are great people, Sheriff Grady Judd and his crew of Sheriffs just about walk on water. Good job sheriff.

Cop ARE subject to trespassing laws and can be arrested and prosecuted for it. There are exceptions like CREW (Consent, Recognized exception, Extenuating circumstance (I.E chasing a felon), and a Warrant). Without any of those, it’s trespass.
Refusing to leave private property is categorized as criminal trespass rather than technical trespass and can quickly become an unlawful search which is a civil rights violation. If the low ranking boot doesn’t want to respect property rights then follow the chain of command up to the sheriff, sergeant, chief, etc, that has a developed brain. The DA/District Attorney is also not too fond to getting calls about police trespass.
It helps to have these numbers in your phone and clearly labeled to begin with so you don’t look like a fool trying to look them up. Having a good attorney both memorized and in your phone’s contacts is also handy.
