We once had a flat tire on I95 at dusk. (We were hundreds of miles from home, and one of our neighbors went by and honked).TRUE.

I survived a flat tire by releasing the gas pedal and steering onto the shoulder. No one wrote a story about me ๐Ÿคญ

Brave young man who kept his cool. Took advantage of a bad situation and greatly improved. If it was me, I’d be praying all the way to the crash site… mostly because I can’t fly. ๐Ÿ˜›

The mark of a good pilot.
Number of landings equal number of take offs.

that always happens, an aircraft will always return to the ground, gravity.

one saying is any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

The word “stall” in the context of aviation typically refers to an airfoil ceasing to produce lift.

“The engine quit” would be more appropriate.

tojak
tojak

if the engine quit and he didn’t keep the nose down, it would certainly cause a “stall”…

What stalled?
The engine?
Or the wing?

He was later cited for lack of a pilot car for an extra wide load.

At the 27 second mark, is that a rubber band on the throttle? Is “rubber band” on the pre-flight inspection / checklist? Toy airplanes would crash because the rubber band broke, can that happen here? Kids got some stones flying a crate like that.

1946 Piper Cub? It’s an antique plane! The air box on the carburetor broke free when a weld on the carburetor failed. Motor upgraded from the original 60HP to 160HP. I hope he has adequate maintenance records. The FAA is not going to be pleased. He was forcing fuel into the carburetor until his engine completely stalled and he had to make the emergency landing. Fortunately, the aircraft is very light weight and there was a gap in the traffic on the bridge. Excellent pilot skills as well as a bit of luck.

The only thing wrong with a dead stick landing is the name.
I’m sure he’s getting a road use tax bill, landing an unregistered vehicle with no license plate on a thoroughfare.

Stalled? Thatโ€™s an aviation term completely at odds with the automotive term. A high school journalist should be capable of sussing this outโ€ฆ

Absolutely right. Tells you that most “journalists” are dumber than the average highschool grad. Dumber than a box of rocks. As in, surprising that they can walk and and breathe at the same time.

Exactly. This bugs the hell out of me. If a “journalist” doesn’t know what terminology to use, he should research it.

Yet another example why flying cars will NEVER become a reality!
Consider that if you follow the Pareto Distribution (80/20 rule), which means that at least a full 80% of people are useless morons who can hardly drive an automatic road car…

Great job on the landing. I suspect he have been flying for a while now and has had to make some interesting take offs and landing. Bet it was a Trump Won banner.
