Notwithstanding her emotion, demand is what brings in harmful drugs – not necessarily demand from those harmed or killed, but demand from somewhere – or there would be no incentive to grow it, manufacture it, haul it, push it, etc. Perhaps its the demand of govt itself w/ the intentions to target “over-population” or the costly vulnerable. Janet Woodcock is the current acting commissioner of the FDA, she was appointed as interim commissioner by the Biden administration when Stephen Hahn, appointed by President Trump, stepped down. Ms. Woodcock has not been granted a permanent position due to her controversial role in the opioid crisis in the US.
Woodcock worked as the Chief of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), a division of the FDA and presided over, what many groups have described as, “one of the worst regulatory failures in U.S. history.” She started with the CDER in 1994 and within a year, Purdue Pharma’s OxyContin was being considered for approval, which it eventually received.
The FDA expanded OxyContin use from short term end-of-life pain to include everything from fibromyalgia to common back pain. Although Purdue had not conducted any clinical trials, Woodcock’s FDA allowed Purdue to declare on the OxyContin label that addiction was “rare.” This gave Purdue the green light to market its product as “much safer” than its competitors.
What resulted was an opioid addiction crisis in the United States. In 2001, victim’s groups reach out to the FDA and Woodcock to change the OxyContin label to reflect the high addiction rate, but both the FDA and Woodcock refused to oblige. It took another six years for the FDA to remove the claim that addiction was rare from OxyContin’s label. However, Woodcock went on to push through a series of approvals of pain killers including Zohyrdo, a narcotic, ten times more powerful than Vicodin, and against the recommendation of an advisory committee, which voted 11-2 against its approval.
She also presided over the approval of Dsuvia in 2018, a drug ten times more powerful than fentanyl. This triggered Dr. Raeford Brown, an anesthesiologist who chairs the Opioid Advisory Committee to state that “that the lack of insight that continues to be exhibited by the agency (FDA) is a willful blindness that borders on the criminal.”
This is the same FDA and commissioner that are now telling you that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and effective.

This is heart wrenching and I truly do feel for her or anyone affected by this. But I really think the media, and politicians, are doing a disservice here in some ways. These drugs are not pure fentanyl. They are a mix of dangerous drugs and/or chemicals mixed WITH fentanyl. Fentanyl is a very beneficial medication when used by trained medical personal in a hospital setting. I know because I went through a really bad accident years ago (hospitalized for weeks) and I had to rely on opioids like fentanyl to get through it.
We should call these drugs something else because it is not just fentanyl. They’re more like bath salts.

I never claimed less addictive, I do not care, all opioids are addictive and dangerous. I claimed less lethal than Fentanyl manufactured by cartels. Fentanyl you get in the hospital is very safe when used properly. The idea is by reducing our freedom the addicts are stuck with the drugs the Cartels want us to take which are more dangerous, different strengths. Hence the overdoses going up.
Leaches and blood letting are used in modern medicine, I get you are being a smart arse but you really should realize not everything created back in the 1900’s was terrible and some of it is useful today.
Basically the narcotics, heroin and morphine were addictive but when you are in pain they still work and basically have almost the same effect today just in different forms.
I do miss the freedom they had back then, a few years ago our nanny state told my wife that she could not get Percacet’s for an extra week after her cancer surgery. Pure evil for Politicians to make that decision and the doctor did not want to go to jail and they were being threatened then. First do no harm goes away when doctors are threatened with jail time.

This is a carefully controlled prescription medication, which they had no legal right to possess. These fools were not “killed” or “poisoned”. Remember when our government did nothing when the mostly black inner city was flooded with crack? We had crack babies being born. Black families destroyed for generations.
