Kane may or may not have lived in Santa Monica in the 90s
Thanks for making this forum available, Kane.
Kane may not have lived there in the 90s but I did. Money, influence and power went a long way in keeping Santa Monicas secret of shitholeism. It was a very nice place, clean, peaceful and vibrant until finally encroaching homelessness, drug use, extremism, woke and the rest came home to roost and couldnt be held back beyond the barriers anymore.
30-35 years it was a cool place. Good street entertainers (there used to be a guy who juggled a running chainsaw with a bowling ball and an apple (which he bit out of as he juggled it); he got on the Carson show), people roller skating around, the famous outdoor gym, great little shops up and down the boardwalk. I once saw Ollie Stone there filming a scene from the Doors movie, with Val Kilmer conversing on the beach as he, as Jim Morrison, was starting the band.
It’s gone to seed, though. 5 years ago, I was there: “F@%# Trump” signs everywhere, a general atmosphere of decline. As Trump would say, “Sad!”
I really liked the Strand, from Palos Verdes to Santa Monica.. but I stayed in Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, not Venice… as you say “seedy” druggies, freaks and weirdos.. I was more into the Coffee House jazz set, playing with friends
It looks ok from a distance, but go there sometime. Trash and homeless all over the place and it smells! It is a daily freakshow. Swam in the ocean and came out of the water with a Cheetos bag on my arm. L.A. is a disgusting place and very dangerous. Stay away.
& the point to watch mental health disorder (liberals) is ?!
Love surfing off the pier at night!
Dogtown for ever!!!
I have been to many Rose Parades. After the parade the floats gather in a park, the smell from all of the flowers is amazing.
Nobody in their right mind would be at Venice beach at 8:13 pm. What a $hit hole.
Vax Up Boost up. Faucci says so for de population
90s, no. There was nobody wearing masks in the 90s while riding their bikes
Jazz Crusaders Lighthouse ’69 – just down the coast from Venice. Some giant albums issued from that lovely club in Hermosa Beach.
Cool live cam. I’m in AZ, and that beach looks great. That’s about as close as I plan to get to CA.
Sadly, it’s turned into an undesirable destination for me.
In the last 10 minutes Ive seen some derelicts digging in garbage cans, and looking for stuff on the ground. Some chick undressing
changing out of her swim suit next to a bench……… and some big huge guy in a wheelchair who keeps standing up and dropping his pants. And a slew of charecters that came out of a Grand theft auto game.
Looks kinda like a shit hole to me. If you have to wade through that to get to the beach…..

Pato Banton, from deep in the (951).
The real AC/DC. Seems useful to know, store away for later.
We may need this info to fight off UAV / drones via interrupting comms during the upcoming CW2.0
It was a disaster zone when I left. Dallas is infinitely cleaner and less homeless but filled with miserable woke corporate fools and bitter useless conservatives. You have to go 2 hours out to find real Americans.

California may not be what it used to be, but neither is the rest of America. Born & raised Chicagoan now living in North Carolina. Many great people in California & other states who are suffering under repressive government. Don’t be so quick to judge people who have to live in these states & saying you voted for socialism, now live with it. We didn’t vote for Pedo Joe, yet he is “President”. Don’t be so cocky and celebrate other peoples cities & states, yours can be infiltrated & turned into a shithole in no time. We are to support, uplift & help others who cannot leave or choose to stay & fight. We moved because of job opportunity & 8 months of cold in Illinois & retiring in Feb 2023. California is the most beautiful state in the nation with all 4 seasons somewhere in the state and many great Americans. I will always visit & support California.
Very well said, thank you.
Robo is definitely coming from a visitor’s POV. Yes, there are good people everywhere living under tyranny. But that doesn’t make tyranny any better. Why support it by giving your money to pay their hotel, sales, food, gas, and let’s not forget cannabis taxes?
Old family with deep roots.
California truly is beautiful. To bad the urban areas have fk’d the place up so bad.
I’ve been back and forth to SoCal 5 times in my life. As f-ed up as it is, I am moving back as soon as my soon-to-be ex-wife takes most of what I have left. But still alive, baby!
