Lauren Boebert celebrates today’s decision…

The 6-3 decision is expected to allow more people to legally carry guns on the streets of the nation’s largest cities — including New York, Los Angeles and Boston — and elsewhere. A quarter of the U.S. population lives in states expected to be affected by the ruling, the high court’s first major gun decision in more than a decade.

Hot damn I’m going to sleep like a log tonight, especially knowing Keith Olbermann is losing his mind over it! I couldn’t be happier. Also Justice Alito’s response to Justice Breyer was epic. He totally took a dump on Breyer bwahahaahahaha!

1st they call to defund the police then they call for more laws and enforcement against the “real problem” , lawfull gun owners. Next they are giving out cash free bail and slaps on the wrist for gun crimes or are not prosecuting them at all.

They tell us ,the law abiding gun owners who have committed no crime , that WE should be arbitrarily be made to jump through hoops to get a permit to carry. They are fine with legalized drugs…. Yet they wonder why crime is going through the roof.

Looks to me like we need a law requiring the amputation of ones hands, feet and fists .This would virtually eliminate all fire arm, knife, drunk driving and deaths from blunt objects unless you propel your torso toward them with great velocity.

Look at all the stories with the same bullshit talking point: “Supreme Court expands gun rights”. You know, it’s almost like they were all told exactly what to say. It’s about what I expected from these lying asshole politicians and their media lap dogs.

Restored a Constitutional Right is more like it.

I’m certain a several of California Sheriffs are having a cow today. Much of the state has been nearly shall issue for years but a handful of Counties like LA., San Diego and San Francisco and others have made it almost impossible to get your permit if a resident living in one of those Counties. Your good cause just wasn’t good enough to satisfy the man. Last I checked, San Francisco County only had eight CCW. permits issued! You needed to be a retired Federal Judge or an aging congresswoman to have any hope of getting one in that county. The days of certain Sheriffs playing politics and hiding behind “may issue” look like they are finally over. The SC ruling is a very-very good news for tens of thousands California residents who desired to carry but lived in the wrong place.

We have rights…but we have to demand enforcement through the judicial system. Now, how many Federal District Courts will summarily throw out state laws as unconstitutional in their lawsuit rulings, and how many states will appeal these rulings to the appellate courts, to have it again fall into the SC’s lap.

What legal chicanery will NY try to legislate to exploit any loophole, no matter how razor thin it is, to get around this? What other existing laws could conflict with this ruling–gun free school zones? What if these zones were expanded? We’ll continue playing whack-a-mole, unless the SC outright rules that “any” state law in existence at the time of the ruling is automatically unconstitutional. I don’t know if they’ve ever issued a blanket ruling like this (maybe desegregation?), but this is what is needed.

Finally, how many states will outright “resist” the ruling? Here’s one example, Andrew Jackson did with an SC ruling in the 1830’s, and it caused the “Trail of Tears”. How can the SC “enforce” their ruling? I am almost sure the SC (and Courts of Appeals) cannot issue punitive measures against non-litigant parties, if at all.

It’s a “victory”, yes, however, absent any real teeth in the ruling, we’ll have to continue to fight to just keep the victory.

Does this mean that Gun Free Zones are now unConstitutional and a teacher can carry without permission?

Manatee

Thomas got this wrong, in so many ways.

So, conservatives on the Supreme Court say they will protect those of us in “shall issues” states that have, “lengthy wait times”. I feel so protected. If the wait time is 12 hours to get a permission slip to start carrying concealed and I am murdered at hour 11, will the Supreme Court bring me back to life?

Clarence is wrong. The fact we are presumed to not be free citizens and must prove it, (and pay for the privilege), to obtain conceal carry permit is an INFRINGEMENT. Its no longer a right to be exercised.

Must we jump through any of those hoops to exercise any other right, Thomas?

How many states have now gone to Constitution Carry*? I count 21.

(*)States which have zero restrictions to carry concealed for all adult citizens not previously convicted of a felony

Yet, Thomas goes along with the sky-will-fall bs that the shall-issue permit process, (in the states which still hold your right hostage), that this process is so the state keeps us safe by assuming we are all felony convicted criminals or will handle guns at a lesser standard than your local police department, (the Only-Ones mentality). Well, Thomas, the sky still hangs high above these 21 states. And crime continues to be worse in the states which infringe upon the right to bear arms.

Its a fat chance the Supreme Court will be so favorably appointed in protecting human rights when this issue comes up again. …and Clarence virtually insured that it will.

And the map is incorrect. SC is NOT a constitutional carry state. You still have to have a permit for concealed carry but if you have the permit you may also now open carry. Constitutional carry was defeated at the same time that open carry passed.

The map is way out of date, and some of the others here as well. I’m enclosing a link to the current usacarry.com map showing Const. Carry and other forms of carry:

Next we need reciprocity for CC permits issued amongst the states. You might have a permit in one state and become a felon crossing across the street into another state.

Nothing stops a state from requiring training and a permit to conceal carry. It only precludes a litmus test in justifying a need first.

I believe the ruling actually “means” that states (New York in this case) can “no longer withhold” CC permits, period. This doesn’t affect the purchase of a firearm, and Heller, et al. ruled that firearms can be outright banned (I believe that’s the gist). So, if you already own a firearm, or meet the legal requirements to own one, it is now unconstitutional to restrict CC permits. This applies to NY immediately, but lawsuits must be filed in those other states for the Court’s ruling to be applied, unless the states themselves repeal their own laws–which is very doubtful.

Approximately 700,000 physicians in US cause 120,000 accidental deaths. Accidental deaths per physician 0.171.
Number of gun owners in US = approximately 80.000.000. Accidental gun deaths per year approximately 1,500 OWNS A GUN,
Accidental deaths per gun owner 0.000188.

Statistically, physicians are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
FACT: NOT EVERYONE OWNS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE PHYSICIAN.

Many years ago, around 1984, my mother moved to Brooklyn where she lived in a brownstone close to the corner of Flatbush and State Street. I drove up from Texas to visit her and took my 38 Super Para Ordinance pistol with a double stack 18 round mag, along with a spare 18 round mag. I’ve Constitutionally carried most of my life since I was about 14 years old, and got in the habit 50+ years ago of carrying my single-action automatics “Cocked and Locked.” Early one evening– it was dark– she decided to walk a couple of very long blocks to an ATM to retrieve about 2,000 dollars. I decided to tag along because the neighborhood looked kinda rough. Sure enough, at the deserted ATM location there were three black dudes loitering close by, and my mom walked into the ATM cubicle, inserted her debit card, logged in her data and it churned out 2 grand in 20’s. As she and I turned away to walk back to her apartment, the 3 black dudes fell in about 10 feet behind us and started gaining on us. I immediately whipped around and drew my pistol from my small-of-the-back holster, audibly lowered the safety, and held the pistol by my side where it was visible, and waited for them to get closer. They immediately turned and ran in the opposite direction as fast as they could. To this day I have no doubt that but for my pistol, we would have been assaulted. Fast forwarding to the present moment, after watching Australia and Canada fall to tyranny, and observing the failed narco-socialist state (Mexico) to our south- which has the strictest gun control laws in the world– I am 100% convinced that if not for the 2nd Amendment, and the millions of armed patriots and militias we have in this country, I would not be freely expressing my opinion in this comment.

JoeE
JoeE

Without us gun owners, we would already be living in a dictatorship, with no Bill of Rights or a right to vote.
I can say that now, because of what we’ve all seen since 2015. The Dems have shown us their true colors. They are a very large gang of criminals, crazy thugs, and super rich idiots who dream of world domination.
Lolz seems like they’ve turned into the evil thugs from a James Bond movie.

Just an FYI. As the rumor goes, the Canucks are disarmed. Been an internet rumor for a very long time now. They are not disarmed. They never were. Its all BS. They own all sorts of guns. Over 29,000,000 legal, registered gun owners, could be more in the last few years, there are no new stats to lookup since the Plandemic….Certainly there are many unregistered guns too.

Hand Guns are legal, just cant buy any new ones at this moment.

Semi Auto’s are also legal.

Rifles and shotguns are as common as firewood.

If any of you want the rules of gun ownership in Canuckistan, just ask, ill post em up, shortened version. 🙂

This is an interesting one. Those who are less capable of self-government—in most major cities in the country—are therefore more prone to crime. This will eventually be used as an argument AGAINST the 2nd Amendment. I agree with the ruling, but it could have unintended consequences. In any case, get the hell out of the cities.

That’s great that it is ruled illegal, but what do we do when they act like they are in Canada and stop and frisk and take your gun anyway. You either have to shoot the people that are acting in faith with these laws and you still lose your rights. At what point does this become too much that the Police will not comply with the unlawful laws. The police that support the constitution are retiring as fast as they can. This leaves idiots that are only in it for the paycheck and power trips.

Mysticmaid
Mysticmaid

Do the research people. Where are the most murders, rapes, and other violent crimes committed? Where do we regularly see cities on fire and businesses destroyed? What do the gun laws look like in these places?

As an American, I am blessed to have the Constitution which lays out the right given to me by God. And should be blessed to have a group of Representatives that protect those rights as a matter of course. Point blank, the cities with the harshest gun regulation (D.C. citizens are not permitted to carry a gun at all) have the worst crime rate, most murders, and most destruction of businesses. Why? Because the people who reside, work, and play there are not afforded the ability to defend themselves and others from those with ill intent.

Look at Gun Free zones for example. Schools are supposed to be for teaching our children reading, writing, math, science, and history. Instead, we see indoctrination and ever increasing violence occurring at them. Teachers are not allowed to carry a firearm in case there is a need to defend the students in their care such as what recently happened in Uvalde. If you are going to keep kids safe in today’s day and age without turning their schools into a prison like environment, I suggest you have on site armed security, teachers with training in defensive tactics, and security systems active at all times. You can make a school safer while providing an education and still allowing the children the ability to grow up in a relaxed and secure environment.

The entire purpose of the gun laws these people are passing is to strip away your God Given Right to keep and Bear arms, to defend the life of yourself or others, and to eventually strip all other provisions of our rights and freedoms away. The only reason we have been allowed to keep our rights that were given to us by God at birth, is because they don’t have the ability to strip them while we are armed. As soon as you let them get away with stripping your 2A, you can count the days until your rights all evaporate.

bobsspike
bobsspike

The right to bare arms is a God given right to protect ourselves from Crime and GOVT. This means if I want a private army with tanks/missiles/planes. I can have it under the constitution. The Romans invaded and took over many countries and cities. The first thing they did was remove the rights of individuals to have swords. The true crime is that a Roman had more rights than the individual that was conquered. The educators are no longer teaching world or American history. they are teaching a bastardized version that supports their agendas. The world needs to remember why America has a constitution and is struggling under the world yoke. One nation under Jesus! The only GOD.
